Brown Issues and Health Two research initiatives focus on “brown” environmental issues: The first focuses on Industrial Pollution (New Ideas in Pollution Research) and the work that culminated from it, Greening Industry: New Roles for Communities, Markets and Governments. The second focuses on environment and health—air pollution in world cities, indoor air pollution, and toxic pollution from agriculture. Climate Change Covers projects dealing with various aspects of global warming,including the Role of Carbon Sequestration in Long-term Climate Mitigation Policies, Participation of Developing Countries in Climate Policies, Prospects of the Carbon Market until 2012, Management of the Prototype Carbon Fund, adaptation in agriculture, and more. Governance Covers research topics on decentralization, regulatory enforcement, public disclosure, stakeholder dialogue, as well as welfare measurement and demand assessment. Green Issues Covers two major projects on land use and ecosystem preservation (initial work has involved collaborative projects in Latin America and Asia), and agricultural pollution and organic agriculture (initial project a collaborative study of Brazilian agricultural pollution in collaboration with IBGE, Brazil's national census bureau). |
